Lawrenceville School 로렌스빌 스쿨 소식
Today’s #TravelTuesday takes us to Iceland with a group of Lawrentians who investigated how Icelanders connect and adapt to their unique environment and the reality of climate change within the evolving landscapes and geothermal impacts of the tectonic plate boundary in the southern part of the country.
Chaperoned by Director of Sustainability Steve Laubach, Science Teacher Nicki Selan, and Math Teacher Pooja Patel, this group of spring break travelers visited the massive Vatnajokull glacier and lagoon; spent time hiking and exploring the waterfalls coming down from the highlands; and studied the ways that the people of Iceland use geothermal energy as a means to provide food and power to the island. #HarknessTravel
오늘의 #TravelTuesday (화요여행)은 아이슬란드로 떠납니다. 로렌스빌의 학생들은 아이슬란드인들이 서서히 변화되는 지형과 아이슬란드 남부의 판구조 (tectonic plate) 경계부위에서 발생하는 지열의 영향아래, 그들의 독특한 자연환경과 기후 변화 현상을 어떻게 연결하고 또한 적응해 나가는지에 대해 조사하였습니다. 지속 가능성/과학 교사인 스티브 로바크, 과학 교사 니키 셀란, 그리고 수학 교사 푸자 파텔의 지도 하에, 이번 봄방학 하크니스여행 프로그램 학생들은 거대한 바트나요쿨 빙하와 라군 (석호)를 방문했으며 (고원에서 내려오는 폭포를 탐험하고 등산을 즐기며), 아이슬란드 사람들이 섬에 식량과 전력을 제공하기 위해 지열 에너지를 사용하는 방법에 대해 공부 하였습니다.
